I did a river drift boat one night "float and camp" on the Lower Umpqua River with Al Perry for Smallmouth Bass.

Also, I was fortunate to do a 5-day raft float trip in Alaska out of Bristol Bay Lodge on the Togiak River in 1976.

Back then, our young guides were Bus Bergman Jr, his dog Barney, Jim Vincent, and his lovely wife Kitty, before Rio Product.

Then, I went on a magical 4-day float and camp raft trip on the Lower Grand Ronde River in October with Mike McCune and team.

The legendary tournament caster, Jimmy Green, had a home down on the lower reaches of the GR and was a big part of fly rod

development for the Fenwick Rod Company. If you are a Spey-casting Steelheader, you need to go on this float trip.

Many years ago, we did a drift boat float and camp trip on the Lower Deschutes River in November for Steelhead

with a group out of our fly shop. It was with a big rafting company that floated tourists down the Rogue River all summer.

In the fall, they liked to do some Deschutes River float and camp trips because they were Steelheaders too.

I have friends who used jet boats from Johnson's Bar, lower Klamath River, go down stream and make a camp on the bank.
