Carl, when was the first time you caught Shad on the Russian River?

I am not sure Bill, perhaps 40 years ago on the Russian.

Took the mini out again yesterday down low and still no shad in the A. I did see some cottonwood starting to fly around so that's a promising sign

Found this East Coast post on Dan Blanton's message board: http://www.danblanton.com/bulletin.php

"We have a shad run here on the East Coast as well.

Here's a link to a Shad Cam on the (mighty) James River, which runs through Richmond, Virginia.

    https://dwr.virginia.gov/shad-cam/

Our run is just beginning and will get 'thick' in the next couple of weeks.

    Richard Wright,

    Enjoy!"

There are dozens of rivers on the East Coast with American Shad and the small Hickory Shad.

My wife and I walked to the spot just across from Gristmill on Monday, and found three men bouncing jigs. They said it was their first day trying, and hadn't caught any yet.

Tried again down low in the mini and I only landed a SH smolt swinging an Amnesia shad fly. With the flow dropping to 3K wading will be easier. Any day now!

Tried again in the mini yesterday down low and didn’t get any shad. I did see a sea lion cruising upriver. I know two people who are shadaholics like me who have caught male shad on the American this week so they are starting to trickle in!

Thanks for the updates, I've been eagerly watching your reports. I am planning to go out tomorrow morning in the Outcast Commander. Thinking about Riverbend to Howe, have you been going out lower than that?

I’ve been down to Watt. It’s too high for the Paradise area.
