    Default Winston Boron III 1279 12'9" 7wt $675

I have a lightly used Winston Boron III 12'9" 7wt for sale with sock and tube. Get ready for winter coastal steelhead! I was throwing a 540 skagit driver and usually 10 ft of T10 or T14.

I've only done a couple winter trips with this rod, bought it from Mike Powers at the shop two years ago. I do not think he fished it much either. Rod tube has a little white paint from on it, I'm sure it would scrub off with some alcohol.

Would consider a Meiser trade if anyone has a 13078 or 13678, otherwise just looking for cash to fund a new rod.

Located in West Sacramento. Let me know if would like to take a look.

Looks like about 50% of the new pricing.

My friends who guide in Oregon and Washington for coastal Winter Steelhead use that size rod.

Mike McCune told me the reason why they fish in cold conditions for Winter Steelhead in OR and WA is because it is a place where

you can still catch large, fresh-run, wild Steelhead on a fly.

I fished this rod from the Eel to the Elk the past couple years. Plenty of power for heavy winter flies.

I'm sorry, I just can't stop myself. Every time I hear the word 'Boron' I just have to think of a Pat Mcmanus article in Outdoor Life from sometime in the late '70s.Pat and his sister's kid are out fishing when another fisherman coasts up to them and seeing Pat's rod asks, "is that a Boron?" His reply was "well he ain't too bright that's for sure". Again, sorry fella's, that line has stuck in my brain for 50 or so years.

Well, I guess I see why people don't typically put the price in the title, I can't edit it!

Anyway, price reduced to $600 if anyone has been looking but put off by the price tag.
