    Default Liberty Island

I boated at Liberty Island a few times this past week. There are not a ton of stripers swimming around but I did catch some. The bass bite is decent but I could not catch one that was big enough for a photo. The birds on the other hand are everywhere. Boating around down there is like a bird safari. Looking out across the flooded island when the water is smooth and seeing the all the birds is impressive. The raptors and kingfishers and owls are in the trees and the shorebirds are on the mudflats. A little fishing and a little photogarphy makes for a good day.

That is a good striper picture but I think that otter photo is the best shot I have gotten in a while although sometimes you have to wait a month and see how much you still like. The chances of me spotting four otters rolling around on the shoreline and having my camera ready are close to zero so getting that is big luck. I spotted that same group of otters in December and tried for a photo but they disappeared into the bushes.

You could sell that Otter family photo.

I don’t think there will be any selling but maybe I will print it and put it on the wall. I like a lot of color in photos I put on the wall which this does not have but I might do it anyway. I got a mink earlier this year and have that up. This could go well next to the mink. They are both pictures of brown wet mammals in the mud. I have a lot of birds up so I need to mix in something else.
