Default They're Not All in the Delta Yet

What a way to start a new month. October is usually the start of delta time. Bill Siler headed down to Sugar Barge this morning, while Jim and I headed to one of our favorite local spots.

Jim had the hot rod today, as he often does, and picked up a nice 16 pounder right at daybreak. A little while later he hooks up again, this time to a 13 pounder.

Along with a few others and a couple of squawfish October is starting out good up our way. The rivers have been off and on with small dinks but not today.

Thanks, Tony, another good post and inspiring photos.

I hear that some Delta fly fishers are going West, closer to the saltwater.

I remember, in the 1960s and 1970s, when many were fishing in the Bays.

Dan Blanton, Hal Janssen, Larry Green, and others were fly fishing for Stripers, in the Bay.

I know John Quigley used to guide around Berkely, years ago.

A friend of mine hired a guide out of Eddie Bauers to show him how to fly fish the Bay.

October, November, and December are supposed to be a good time for the Delta for Stripers.

October is the month to go fly fishing for almost everything.
