    Default Pit 3 Road closure

Just a FYI for anglers wanting to fish Pit 3.

PG&E is doing work on the Pit 3 reach.

This will result in the road being closed

    This info from PG&E:

Pit River Road (37N06) is closed Monday - Friday from 7am to 5:30pm ONLY.

It is open at all other times of the day and week including Saturday and Sunday.

We will be working through the end of the year until weather no longer permits us to work
on the project (approximately December 2024). At that point we will demobilize for the
winter and will remobilize mid August 2025 after Bald Eagle nesting season. At that point
we will finish any work we were not able to complete. There is a high likelihood it will
be completed before December 2025, but that is the current schedule that factors in the
chance of inclement weather that halts construction.

The east side of dam is open 100% of the time. The Pacific Crest Trail
    is open as well.

Thanks for posting, we had a heck of time last weekend due to the closure. FYI the M - F hours are NOT a hard stop, some of our group were held up on a Thursday until after 8:30 pm trying to get to Ruling Creek.

We have been kayaking and fishing the Pit for years and this was by far the poorest fishing on Pit 3 we have ever had. Part of this may have been poor water clarity due to an algae bloom on the lake from the high temps this summer. We did not fish as much on 4 or 5 which were flowing a little clearer...
