    Default Summer Steel!

Landed a nice 22" Steelhead this morning, swinging my go to leech on my Anderson Custom Nova 4wt. What a good time on the American!

    Inspiring post and photo.

Did you have on a sinking tip?

I think there are some Steelhead in the lower American River, year round.

My favorite month is September for Half-pounders, morning and evening.

I used a light fly rod, floating line, 9' 3x leader, and any #10- 12 wet fly or nymph.

Get out one morning or evening with Andy Guibord, wading.

I am running a 4wt Anderson Custom Rod, the Nova 2. 11' 3", Scientific Anglers Skagit Lite, and 10' 80g tip (50/50 float and sink), 4-5' of 12lb flourocarbon. This being my third weekend out to my favorite stretch, each weekend has given me a fish thats 15+ inches so far and a handful of smolts. This 22'' was a pleasant suprise.

Good job, Nate. Thanks for the report and I hope to get out there to swing some streamers with you again.

Hey thanks my man! I am looking to take a weekday off some time next week or the week after. Bossman returns from vacation tomorrow or Weds and I plan to put in for a day. Only downside right now is my shuttle buddy is in Alaska. Best option would be catching an uber or something. If youre interested let me know! Flows are 3500, so I should be able to get some nice anchoring and we could swing. Sept is also availble, just have a neurology appt, and my lady and I are heading to a rennesaince festival in Folsom at the end sept.

Nice job on the fish. I have bike shuttled the American. If you have room in the boat for the bike it works well. Just don’t leave your rods in the boat while you are doing the shuttle .
