Default East Cape Boats 2024 drift boat

You've probably heard me talking about a revolutionary Carbon Fiber Drift Boat for some time now, well here she is in all her glory. So stoked to be part of the East Cape Boat Family.

Coming to you from East Cape Boats
The EastCape 2024 DRIFT. Fully infused carbon fiber, 300lbs READY TO FISH (not just hull weight).

This boat was debuted at ICAST 2024 and will be on the West Coast, more importantly Northern California sooner than later.

There's is nothing like this boat on the market and it's going to change the way we row, the way we fish and more importantly where we can go.
Kevlar heavily reinforced chines that can take a hit from a sledgehammer and keep on ticking. Truly changing the drift boat game.

Not to mention a lifetime lamination warranty. So try and blow it up.

Here's a Facebook Video with some more great info and explanations.

I'll keep everyone posted on when it decides to peak her head on a Nor Cal river near you.

Some other big revolutionary plans coming from our folks at East Cape Boats in 2025. Can't wait to spill the beans!!!

    Stay tuned

interested to hear what you think after a year. Pictures on line look like it sits low in the water without much rocker or free board. Interested in how it handles whitewater. Let us know.

Hello Bill, hope all is well. Thank you for always keeping this forum up and running.

The cost of this boat, ready to fish is $20,500. Oars, trailer, anchor system, the hole enchilada.

RSK, great queation. While this boat looks like it will sit low in the water it's actually the complete opposite. The pics dont do this boat justice and I thought the same when i first saw it 2yrs ago, but its a lot bigger in life than it is in the pics. I'm referring to the latest boat which is the one in the pics. A few pics out on the interwebs of prototypes, but the orange and black are the true design of the boat one would get. Been working with East Cape Boats on this and every thought, concern and details have gone into this creation.

Fully built out its only 300lbs and floats extremely shallow, most standard drift boats hulls aren't even 300lbs. With 2 average anglers and a guide in it, it sits in about 4" of water, while most dbs are twice that. My Adipose flow, a very skiff like footprint that's 15.4x58" sits 7" in the water with 3 average anglers in the boat but it also weights 150lbs more, same with the clack eddy that I had which was 15.11x56" and about 150lbs more. 7" is still very shallow for a db, while the eddy rowed like no other, it's the adi flows stability that sold me compared to the eddy. Pros n cons of any db. Both are equally match, but the stability was just a tad better in the adi, so for safety reasons I eventually chose an Adipose flow.

The ECB db is a hybrid, slight rocker like a standard db, but its footprint is extremely skiffy. The footprint is 15.8x60", yes 60" wide on the bottom, this is extremely important with how this boat floats, rows and functions. The footprint of the ecb db reminds me a lot like the clack eddy but with a wider bottom which creates a more stable platform and allows it to float much higher in the water. Pops up immediately on the back row like no other as well, which the clack eddy did really well.

This boat was designed to go where all drift boats can and more as well as places where low pro rafts can go too, including side of the river dump in spots like you would do with rafts. Doesnt mean this boat can take on class 3s, but class 2s all day long, class 2+ if you are good on the sticks. Standing waves are no issues like most low pro dbs with its splash rail that 1)helps push/keep the boat up in standing waves but 1)helps keeps water out of the boat in the same situations which is a huge issue with low pros. I get and got a good amount of water in my current adi flow and my standard eddys from standing waves on the regular and water coming over the bow was a slight issue too. Not with this boat with the splash rail down lower and the gunnel going out away from the boat and not curling down in a U-shape.

It's one for the record books and I'm hoping to have one out here sooner than later. Worse case there will be one at the Pleasanton Fly Fishing show. We are working on having one ready for the ISE show, and Redding show all in 2025.

In a few weeks I'll be posting videos of it in its working environment that I'll be posting on my social media pages. Just recently added pics like above, but then a full lay out walk around with Denni, the designer and manager of the drift boat program. Pretty sweet vid. This video is on my personal and business fb and Instagram pages.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about this boat. I'd be happy to answer them, and if it's above my pay grade I'll get ya the answer in less than 24hrs.

    Thanks

    Hey RSK

Here is a great picture showing a full boat with 2 average anglers, a rower and how high it sits in the water. She floats like a cork. Mind you this was the last prototype, #5, and in this pic it shows the Lower transom compared to what is on the production boat now.

The point of this pic was to show how high the rear-end floats with a guy back there but also how the straight out gunnel could function by keeping water out of the boat compared to
the traditional curving around and down on all other dbs.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the East Cape Boats Drift and it being showcased on the West Coast for the very first time at the up and coming Pleasanton CA Fly Fishing Show. It will be in the booth of East Cape Boats and myself Nor Cal Fly Guides in all its glory. This specific boat is my personal boat and will be fresh of the build floor, designed the way I want my layout to be to fish all of Nor Cal Waters from Yuba Feather American, to Lower Sac Trinity and the Coast.

Come on out and take a look, she's a show stopper and more importantly and game changer.

    Hope to see you there
    Thanks
