    Hi,
Webber has been fishing great. But it is about to get too hot until fall imo. The heat will send the fish deep. Mosquitos are getting better.
I work for the non-profit that runs Webber and am happy to talk about it-shoot me a pm!

I got back from Bend, Oregon. I fished East Lake and it’s probably one of my new favorite places to fish. Sight casting bows and browns that are chasing damsel nymphs or sipping spent callibaites 5-10’ off the bank in between the shoreline and weed beds. That type of fishing is addictive. Then when the topwater bite slowed toss out a flashback PT 3’-4’ under an indicator and lots of action.

That is truly classy fly fishing.

    Inspiring post.

In the 1970s our Cortland Line Rep, Joe Patterson, took us youngsters up to Central Oregon to the famous lakes.

We fished Crane Prairie, Wickiup, Hosmer, Diamond, and Davis Lakes plus little Fall River.

In the first years, we were all in round float tubes with fins which is a great way to fly fish.

We soon all gravitated to 8 foot prams which really changed our fly-fishing experience.

In a pram you could take a cooler with food and drinks and several different fly-fishing outfits.

Everyone had 7 foot oars and some added a tiller electric motor or a 4hp outboard motor.

Every year it was a little different fishing so we moved around with local information.

I did not get to fish East Lake but heard about it over the years.

Yup, East lake is just on the other side of hwy 97. I wanted to fish Crane but the local fly shop recommended East Lake for the shore fishing since I didn’t take a watercraft with me.

Late to the post; but another view. Warmwater fly fishing is great. Expands your possibilities immensely. You probably have a city pond within 1 hour with bluegill and bass. Foothill lakes, the Delta, Clear Lake; and mid-elevation lakes have smallies and spots (Englebright). Stripers in Don Pedro or McClure have a top water bite in August and September where they chase bait schools to the top and there's a melee.

October is thought by many veteran fly fishers, to be the best month in California for many destinations and species.

September is still "kind of warm", but some places are already going strong.

November is getting cold, but in many places the fishing is still good.

October is perfect, on average, for many destinations and fisheries.

The knowledge of "prime, on average, timing" is the knowledge anglers need to be more consistently successful.

After spending 50 years in the fishing business and fishing around the World, I know the timing of many fisheries.

My information is pretty close because it has been compiled by talking with thousands of top angler and guides.

When I am talking about any fisheries, it is information from anglers who fish the fishery more than most.

So if you live in California, Oregon or Washington, Nevada, get a big week trip or some smaller trips on the calendar in October.

Recently, a nice young school teacher, who lives up near the Great Lakes, was buying a used Metal Head pram.

With Google, he found some posts about those nice boats on my Forum from years ago.

With phone calls and text pictures, I could help him, because we were the first Metal Head dealer.

Being retired the Form and these contacts keep me connected to the sport.
