Default Report on Lake Berryessa from vertan fly angler there, Dave Hudson.

"I have been fishing Berryessa since the end of Feb. Been slow until this week. The water temp went into the low to mid 60's and

the fishing picked up. Landed 3ea 19-inch bass this week along with a bunch of smaller fish of various species.

The only drawback is the cost of gas for my truck and boat.

    Dave"

Dave has fly fished Berryessa for decades now.

He uses a WF4S, full sinking line, the fastest one he can find, with a small black crystal bugger.

He has an all-welded outboard jet boat with, naturally, an autopilot on the front.

Dave tied thousands of flies for Kiene's and The Fly Shop in Redding for many years.

I was up there Thursday and may have seen him.

My experience is the peak was about April 1st. It has been good but slowed on Thursday for me. A few clouds and some cool weather would help. Last weekend with the cloudy weather the bite was good.
