Lot of 17 Powell graphite rods from Chico

As some of you may know, I purchased the remaining inventory of the Powell Rod Company from the Powell family in Chico this March. I’m slowly going through and seeing what all I have.

These rods for sale were all built in the Chico shop after the purchase and move of the Powell company. These rods are mostly built on remaining Powell blank stock by Press, Walt, Larry, and Bill. The rods are labeled a number of different ways…Chico Fly Shop, Performance Ply, Walton Powell.

There are a few rods built on what Press called the Performance Ply blanks. These are blanks he had Jim Kantnor roll for him on Walt’s mandrels. They are dual helix cloth and standard modulus graphite. Very smooth mod action rods.

All rods are $250 each plus $25 for shipping. They have socks but no tubes. I can provide tubes for $35 apiece.

I am also starting a small scale building operation with an experienced builder and can offer some custom builds on the Performance Ply blanks. These builds are done with all original Powell components and completely to Press Powell spec. Including the labeling. Feel free to ask about the models available. These builds are priced at $450 and include a tube.

That Powell reel seat is excellent too.

They were sold all over the place to rod builders.
