    What a fun video! I read that it is possible they are feeding some, especially on scuds and things that look like scuds... I don't know, but I'm chomping at the bit to get out there after 'em.

    Yes, Joshua, many are excited to get out after those Shad too.

    Early and late is better, especially if you are new to it.



    If you can afford it, try to get out with a good Shad guide like Andy Guibord or Bruce Porter.

    They both have spent a lifetime on the Lower American River.

    I used to love taking clients there mid-day and swing soft hackles on a floating line. It was a nice change of pace from throwing shooting heads.

    We would also throw elk hair caddis in the evening to risers.

    And yes, shad feed when they are in the rivers.
