Kinky Muddlers

Tying up a bunch of these flies for my trip to baja in June and October. it's been a while since I tied these up but after a tying a few, I got the hang of it, again.
Both Olive and tan are the colors. The big roosters inhale this fly.
Can't wait for June to get here. The big roosters are already on the bite.

Looks like a good fly for Baja.





I went to Loreto twice and La Paz once. I was doing lots of Bonefish and Tarpon trio too.


We had trips to Loreto for about 30 years and Chuck Campana hosted many of them for Kiene's.


My first trip to Loreto was about 40 years ago and Chuck said it was one of our worst trips with not many Dorado.

I caught some other saltwater fish like Skipjacks so I enjoyed it, the town and the restaurants.

I know it is much nicer there now with a WATERFRONT, MALECON, WALKWAY.

Mexico has been cleaning up the areas along the city beaches with new concrete and stone walkways called malecons.


My second trip to Loreto was one of our best with calm seas, tons of Dorado, and lots of floating mats of sargassum vegetation.

I was throwing big saltwater poppers on a 9' #12 line fly rod with a WF14F......way before Rio SW Outbound Short fly lines.

It was a magical week for all of us.

Jay, I have been tying the same fly "kinky muddlers" for at least 4 years now for Roosters in Loreto, however I found , it works OK, however the Plane Jane Air head woks better and has replaced the Muddler on most accounts, beside the Air head is indestructible...Just my 2 cents
