Default We need fly fishing help for someone who live in Alameda, CA.

Evan has been fly-fishing reservoirs in the Bay Area not too far from his home in Alameda.

He is looking for some help with fly fishing destinations not too far from home.

He has a boat but I have no info on it yet.

I think he started fly fishing about 5 years ago and needs some advice/help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

My suggestion would be a reservoir in the Motherlode for trout. I've been running into a ton of them at Melones in the back of creek arms. They're easy to find as they're grouped up and you see them rising all day. I'm not up there for the trout but I've managed to screw away a couple hours catching them for the last few trips. A small wooly bugger on a sink tip or full sink is all you need. They're in the top 10ft and they always seem to hug the bank in pods. Typical stocker behavior.

I have heard good things about New Melones for a long time but never got down there.

    Do you need a boat?

    Thanks for the good help.

Bill sent you a PM to have Evan call me. I will walk him through based on what he wants to fish for. We have stripers in the bay and Delta and I can share a few rivers for trout etc...if he wants to do that.

Bill, I don't think a boat is absolutely necessary in this case. A kayak would work or even a float tube. I'm sure there's fish everywhere and definitely close to the ramps.
