    Default Pyramid Lake

Going next Monday. Anyone want to share what’s working I’m going on full Monday so I feel like my odds are not optimal but you go when you can. I want to hook into a twenty plus pounder like Peter B

Was out Friday dragging bugs. Fishing was slow. Based on the one good fish landed (not a 20# but probably ~12-14#) and a couple strikes, fish seemed to want a dark bugger (no obvious teeth marks on the foam parts of flies after strikes). Fish seemed to be hanging out on weed edges and liked a moderate speed erratic retrieve. Only saw one other person catch a fish, thought I overheard that it was on a beetle. Unfortunately, wasn't able to stick around for the evening bite. Every day is different out there, so I'm all for constantly experimenting until something starts working. Often, I think it's mostly just a matter of finding ways to stay focused while waiting for a feeding window to open, which can happen at any time. Seems like a good number of the fly caught 20+# fish I have heard of are caught on midges while indicator fishing...but I get bored watching a bobber and like to feel the strike.

Pyramid Lake has become a very interesting fishery today with amazing possibilities.

Years ago we thought November through April was the best timing.

What are the best months to go there today, 2023?

Rob Anderson has a video on YouTube where he breaks down his thinking on how the seasons work at Pyramid these days. Spoiler alert...first month of the season and last 6 weeks of the season seem to be his favorites.

I have to say I much enjoy fishing from an inflatable in good weather than standing on a ladder during a blizzard.

All that said...any day can be good if you hook a monster.

People find fish in the summer holding deep around springs that come up in the bottom of lakes.

Hey Bill. My big fish was in the south on a wine 49er midge. However, I heard the balanced leech and popcorn beetle bute has really picked up. I would have an indicator setup and a stripping setup. I’ve heard of people catching fish all the way from warrior to popcorn right now so I would say just pick your favorite beach. Try a midnight cowboy and brownish purple leeches. I am busy with the baby right now but I am hoping to get back up before the new year. Good luck!

Glad to hear you caught a nice fish. Always a good thing.
I am planning on going up the 2nd week of December. I hope the weather is nasty and the fishing is good.
    I will share a report.

Can you fish Pyramid from a kayak and if so do you need a permit to do it?

Yes. Same as if you are fishing from shore.
