From an old fly fishing buddy:

    "Hi Bill,
I was looking at the Forum posts regarding the Klamath. Other things folks, especially walk and wade anglers, should check beforehand is the level of fine particles (eg PM 2.5) via the AQI and for access closures. For example, if I read a USFS announcement correctly, most of the US Forest Service lands above Weitchpec up to Somes Bar is currently closed due to the wildfires. This might not affect anglers on floats, but could certainly impact walk-in anglers."

I crossed the I-5 bridge near the rest stop yesterday morning and the river looked as it typically does this time of year. There are active fires burning downriver and the air quality is horrible in Yreka where we live. The turbidity between Scott Bar and Orleans is likely a combination of the fires and runoff caused by some intense thunderstorms that occurred a few weeks ago.
