    Default Klamath?

Anyone have any updated info on water clarity above Weitchpec?

The Pearch fire between Somes Bar and Orleans is still burning. Pearch Ck campground remains closed. However, E-Ne-Nuk and Aikens Ck campgrounds are open, according to Six Rivers NF website.

    Thanks.

I stopped by while crossing the Klamath via I5 and it was clear, but I don't know about further down.

Hmmm, bummer. Ok. Thanks Bill. Looks like I'm heading to the Pit this weekend.

At the Pit River "old flows in the 1970s", September was the target month for the size 8 Isonychia mayfly emergence.

I know of three groups of old Pit River regulars:

The oldest was the EC Powell family who frequented the Pit River.

Second was the Frank Scofield, Scofield's Furniture, group of the Great Generation.

Third was the Baby Boomer group that I was in.

My friend Neil Hansen learned of the Pit River from veteran fly fisher Jerry Lyerly.

Then Neil took me to the Pit and that started my generation's group.

We took some youngsters that were our kids' generation and some of them are still at it in the higher flows.

Because I was in the center of all this, having a fly shop, I could write a book about all these people and the wonderful Pit River.

Here is the report from Kenny Priest today:

    Lower Klamath
"River conditions have improved dramatically in the past couple weeks, and there’s plenty of visibility and green water. Both salmon and steelhead are making their migration upriver. Fishing pressure is light."

That being said, I just called Klamath River Lodge south of Orleans and the lady said it's muddy. So I guess the Trinity and Blue Creek are clearing the river as it heads down to the Glen where Priest usually reports from.

Thanks................I love that river in the Fall.

I am excited about the dam removals but it might take a while.

Is that section muddied up from storms or fire runoff?

I spent a day at Klamath Glen (9/12) and another 9/13) running up river with a guide. The water was clear from Johnsons down. Some steelhead and salmon are both in and scattered around. Not huge numbers, but you can find them.
Go ahead and go up- no reason not to.
