Sad news! The good ones leave such an empty space. He will be missed.

At one time John Dietz was the highest paid independent Rep in the fly fishing industry.

He had purchased a new Toyota Landcruiser which was a big deal in its day.

He was the Rep for a bunch of major lines like Umpqua, Orvis, Simms and Sage. (not sure exactly)

John was the funniest of any Reps we ever had call on us. I just remember lots of laughs were going on while he was there.


He always had heart trouble so after that he spent the rest of his life working for The Fly Shop in Redding, California.



Best friends, John Dietz and Mike Mercer, both worked at 'The Fly Shop' in Redding, California forever.

In my estimation, these two were the "best of the best" and I was lucky to know them both.



We know John had a wonderful life, living it to the fullest, every day.
