Steelheading 101 Presentation

Jeff Putnam’s Fly Fishing Schools will be hosting a steelhead fly fishing event at the Gristmill Access on the American River September 9, 2023. This event will help attendees prepare for the fall and winter steelhead seasons. Three presentations are scheduled and will include two-handed spey casting, single handed spey casting and steelhead fishing techniques. Bring your two-handed or single-handed fly rod, waders and boots as casting instructors will be on hand to help attendees with casting instruction. Try out our custom Navigator H20 spey rods, learn how to cast and fish for steelhead, meet professional steelhead fly tyer and author Dennis Lee. I hope to see you there. -JP

When: Saturday September 9, 2023 from 9am to 12:30 pm
Where: Gristmill Access, American River Sacramento. Entrance is located next to 9521 Mira Del Rio Drive, Sacramento. There is a $5.00 park access fee (cash only) payable at park entrance.

There is no cost to attend this event.

That should be a wonderful free event where you would learn something more about fly fishing for Steelhead.

Lots of folks will be there with common goals and love for Steelhead.

You could learn something about Spey casting as well.



Jeff moved up north to around Gold Hill on the Middle Rogue River near one of my mentors, Al Perryman and the famous rod builder, Gary Anderson.

Jeff Putnam bought a comfortable guide raft and is taking folks out on the Middle Rogue River for fresh Summer Steelhead.
