That Morgan/Winston fiberglass 8'6" #7 line in 2 pc ? would be a great rod to fish today for Steelhead and heavy trout.

It would be nice in Florida for small Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Seatrout, Jacks, etc.


What size fly line would you use on the bamboo Larry?

Larry Kenny and Harry Wilson started Scott Rod Company in San Francisco in the 1970s.

I have known Larry for almost 50 years and he is a class act.




Mario Wojnicki use to come to visit me in my fly shop in Sacramento before he had a fly shop.

Later Mario had a fly shop in El Cerrito, California, but I think he chose to close the shop so he could just build fly rods.

The original Scott Rod Company was sold and moved to Montrose, Colorado.

Wojnicki cane fly rods were maybe $750 but after Scott Rod Company bought all of Mario's production they went up 100% to $1,500.

Scott knew that Mario was selling his rods way too cheap and then Mario could really knuckle down and crank them out.

It was a "win-win" for everyone and you got a Scott spilt cane fly rod made by Mario Wojnicki.


Yes, everything that has happened in the fly fishing world since 1970 is all saved up in my little old brain.
