    Default WTB 12wt backup rod

Still looking. Ran across an outfit by the name of Mercari that is apparently Japan's ebay. Anyone had any dealing with them?

I've got an 11wt Scott Heli-ply if you could make that work.

My $0.02, but a 12 weight rod is one of those rods that you will use on tough fish that are known to be rod breakers. To that extent, I believe the lifetime warranty and customer service should be a consideration in rod choice. Not sure if Mercari will be supportive if you need that kind of service. In my opinion, starting with an 8 weight the warranty becomes more and more important as the line weights increase.

    Just some things to consider.
