I drove there today out of Foresthill, but it has closers so you can’t go down the canyon. There is a lot of damage from his winter and the fire last summer. Tons of cleanup. It may seem weird but I like going to burned out areas because you can visualize the areas without all the overgrowth. It's sad in a way but fire can be good for the forest too.
If you are into prospecting it also shows interesting erosion and geological exposure. Drove further up the ridge to the snow, turned around at China Wall OHV, and saw a bear. Ruck Chucky is still closed, upper Clementine is still closed, didn’t go to Yankee Jim’s bridge area yet, the water is probably unfishable right now, but I think the gold is getting moved around a lot from this past winter. Fishing and metal detecting works in the same areas.
