Seems like the river is slowly healing itself?

Looks like the Eel River is getting more dam removal too.

In the 1950s everyone fished the Russian River because it was so good.

Why drive further to the Eel River?

1937: Chronic flooding of Russian
River prompted growers to organize to
promote a federal flood control
project
1948: US Army Corps of Engineers
issued the “Russian River Project”
study
1949: Sonoma County Flood Control
and Water Conservation District
created
1959: Coyote Valley Dam was
completed, creating Lake Mendocino
1974: Countywide bond measure
approved by Sonoma County voters to
build Warm Springs Dam
1979: Unsuccessful measure placed on
ballot to repeal the bond
1982: Warm Springs Dam construction
completed
1983: Lake Sonoma was filled, thanks
to one of the wettest years on record

So the diverse Russian River fisheries were "eliminated".

Shad, Stripers, Steelhead and Salmon.......

Then everyone headed for the Eel River.

The most exciting thing is my lifetime around fishing is the removal of dams.
