Good Day y'all. Rumor mill reporting may discourage fishermen from visiting the mid Klamath due to sediment in the river. However, I think it is important to get first hand reporting from the LOCAL guides on site. I can report that with a few minor tactical changes we are having a stupendous year catching adult steelhead. The half pounder run this year is diminished, but we are having great days taking adults. Some observations: Use larger flies with flash (not the old school dull color patterns), focus on periods with sun overhead to provide opportunities for the fish to see the fly flash through the sediment. It seems a bit like fishing British Columbia waters below sedimented glacial waters....regardless- the season is NOT lost...we are doing well on the Middle Klamath and continuing with full service guide packages with lodging, meals, and guiding. We welcome calls to 1-800-Klamath to get an updated report.
