For those looking to float or fish the low flow feather, there is a hornets nest in the big sycamore at steep riffle. This is the same spot that the old fish trap use to be. It's the next run after the office where the river gets braidy and comes back together. That big sycamore that's hanging over the slot to run your boat is the one that had the nest inside the tree.

Please be careful, there was an incident in July with a lady kayaker where 911 was called and she stopped breathing at one point, she has recovered, just yesterday 9-18 a drift boater was floating through and making a bit more room for others as that tree keeps on falling and he was attacked. The hornets followed him half way down the flat below stinging him 50 times. 911 was called and he is recovering.

Dwr has been contacted not only for these 2 incidents but also for the past several years about the tree ever since their irresponsible decisions with Oroville dam in 2017. They will not remove the tree for 100 different reasons that are pretty disheartening. Guess it must take a life before they do.
