    Default Wading pants ??

I bought a brace of Exoffico wading pants a long time ago . Finally shredded a pair on my last Baja trip this past August . To my horror , I learned that they don't make them anymore .

What is the 'modern' standard that everyone is using ? Must be synthetic , and have a sew-in mesh brief .

    Thanks for any input !

I use kayaking pants off Amazon. 30 bucks or so, not sure how durable yet but so far good over two seasons.

I imagine that Simms and Patagonia both have light weight fishing pants but not sure about the mesh inside.

Columbia used to make a wet wading pant with convertible legs and sewn in swimming trunk undies. Not sure if they still do.

Not a fan of those zip-off long pants that turn into shorts for a couple of reasons.First,it's only a matter of time before the zips fail on either one or both legs.Secondly, you should always wear long pants anyway as otherwise you're courting sunburn and his good friend skin cancer.I've always worn either the Simms Superlight UPF50 or Columbia's version the PFG "Blood 'n Guts".

Totally agree with Byron. It's hard to keep sunscreen on legs when you're wading or getting splashed, rubbing your arms on your legs, etc. So long pants for most of the day is wise. I also second the Columbia version. But I cut out the sewn in mesh brief and wear boxer type briefs. If you wade in saltwater a lot and get your crotch wet, it's very easy to end up with rash and it will ruin a fishing trip if you get it early. So the briefs help prevent rubbing and rash. Some people buy bike shorts and wear them when wading a lot for this reason.

Re the rash part,I long ago started using a great product called "Neat 3B Action Cream"....one application can last an entire day.
    Here's the blurb...

"Neat Feat 3B Action Cream incorporates an effective antiperspirant in an emollient, soothing cream base for application to areas where skin surfaces rub together and become inflamed. The underlying problem in these situations is perspiration and the resultant chafing between skin surfaces :sites at which this occurs are between the buttocks, between the legs and beneath the breasts (hence 3B).
The product may also help to prevent fungal infections such as tinea and intertrigo which tend to occur in these warm, moist areas of the body. These problems are common amongst people who are active and who participate in sporting activities."
