    Default Lake Davis this week?

    Hi,
Considering going to Lake Davis this week, the air temperature is finally coming down but the surface water temp is still in the mid/upper 60’s.
Any thoughts on how it might fish? Long drive, and I’d rather not fish midges at 20’+.
    Thanks for any info, Goz

It is green and warm. Almanor and Eagle are better bets.

    Low.
I have an Action Craft flats skiff with a 6" draft that can launch at Lake Davis' Camp 5, but anything deeper will need to go to the East shore. The ramp at Prattsville on Almanor was closed this week leaving Canyon Dam as the only public ramp. Launching at Eagle Lake is very tenuous. It takes only a couple of power launchers to create a berm that has to be shoveled. The ramp at Gold Lake is fine but the fish are about 70' down.

NO SKIN CONTACT WITH LAKE DAVIS. Keep dogs out of the water don't let them drink. Toxic blue green algae has been found throughout the lake and an hour ago DB&W announced the closure.

Anyone know if Lake Davis is still closed? Can’t find any info about it online.

    Davis is not closed.
DB&W says to avoid skin contact with the water and keep dogs out of the water and don't let them drink. With these cooling temps I'm not sure this is even an issue any longer. Been off the water since early September with a bum knee, but Halloween is when I normally show up with backswimmer and snail patterns. The lake is only 15 minutes away so I might run up tomorrow to have lunch under the last of the fall colors. If the algae warning signs are down, I'll let you know.

Thanks for the reply Ralph and good to know. I contacted the J&J Grizzly store and they said the same and the caution advisory has been lifted. Would be curious to hear what you see.
