Before the Spey/Two-handed World came to the Pacific Northwest the 9' 6" #8 line Graphite was popular for Steelhead.

For Bonefish most use, on average, a 9' #8 fly rod, but SW legend Chico Fernandez preferred the 9'6".

The 9'6" #8 graphite fly rod was popular at Pyramid lake about 30-40 years ago.

Trust me, Spey/Two-handed fishing is an amazing thing to get into for moving water.

As Spey/Two-handed casting/fishing was getting going here in Nor Cal, maybe 20-30 years ago, lots of old timers "poo-pooed" it.

A top veteran single hand caster and real Steelheader of the Great Generation, Chuck Campana, first off was not a fan.

Later, Chuck became fascinated with all aspects of the Spey World and was down at the river almost daily with others.

~40 years ago Westcoast Spey fishing started in British Columbia, then Washington and then Oregon and then Nor Cal.

It has been so good for the great 'sport/hobby/lifestyle' of fly fishing.
