Default Stripers feeding in shallow water on Peanut Bunker - East Coast.

I think we need to move to the northeast coast of America for Stripers.

If we only had a place where stripers could grow and get big... maybe where salt water and fresh mixes... where fish could run up to spawn and come back...

nah- no way Cali could pull that off.

All the free ranging Stripers spawn on the Sacramento river on the surface at night up near Colusa every Spring (May).

They use to spawn up the San Juaquin river before they dammed it up.

On the East Coast you can run out in a boat 20 miles and it can be only 60 feet deep.

On the West Coast you can run out 20 miles and it can be 3 miles deep.

For this reason we have very little food for the Pacific ocean gamefish on the West Coast.

Our West Coast Stripers use to feed on the adult and baby American Shad but our Shad runs are down.

Our West Coast Stripers use to feed on baby salmon and baby Steelhead but those runs are way down now too.

50 years ago when I worked in a bait-n-tackle shop in West Sacramento we were told that California's Sardine population had already

been eliminated by commercial harvesting? We got our sardines frozen from off the coast of South America.
