Went offshore in Kona on Sunday. Got 4 shibi to 30 lbs and a nice otaru sized aku. Got some rats on the fly. Weather turned bad and headed in. Bummer you have to go 30 miles in Kona to find fish. We were supposed to be going to Christmas Island today but they pulled the plug on our trip. this was a plan B. I have another friend coming in next week for some bluewater then off to Molokai for big bones.

Why did they pull the plug on your CI trip. I'm waiting to see if Aitutaki is going to open to outsiders, to me it's not looking to good right now. I guess I'll have to settle for baja and a few trips to Cancun for baby tarpon and snook.
That weather in the photo looked pretty karley

Christmas Island was not ready because of covid. They didn't know how to test, what test to take and how to test before we went back to the states. I am bummed because we would have been the first group there in two years. Good luck with Aitutaki. Fiji looks like they are going to open up, so maybe that will help with Christmas Island. We just rebooked for next April.
Weather was way worse out at the Tsunami buoy. First to miles nice flat calm water, 2nd ten a little bumpy, last 10 miles looked like Hilo water. Then the winds came up and a set of 10 foot waves were going to swamp us. So Kevin gunned the engines and we went down hill on those two and he said we needed to head back in.
Heard baja is good now roosters and still some yellowtail.
