Rod is as stated : A single handed 10' 8'' 2pc . GT 40 Carbon Rod 5 wt. Spigot Ferule , Full well handle with a wood insert reel seat & a fighting butt . Made in the USA . in un - used conduction never seen water.

Local pick up can be arranged from Sacramento to Tahoe & in to the Bay Area.

Yes, Fisher made the first long graphite fly rods and this one is a higher generation of graphite.

Graphite allowed rod / blank makers to make longer rod that were light and worked well.

Back in the days of only fiberglass it was hard to make a #5 weight that was over 8' that was not whippy and soft.

Some liked the fiberglass 8'6" #5 line Fenwicks like Bob Giannoni and Neil Hansen but they were too soft for many.

With the current highest level graphites they can make 10' and even 11' single had fly rods that are light and cast well.

These Gt 40 Rods were only 44mm modulus Graphite . Today's rods are going in to the 100mm Modulus carbons category way to dense for my liking. Why these rods are so great is because of the lower carbon content that was used in the day .And developed of a specific use l with or with out indicators for line control nymphing situations for are Western waters .
