Default Dry fly fishing on the Merced river on the West side of Yosemite - Tenkara video

About 50 years ago I fly fished the Merced river outside the west park entrance right of the highway.

The water looked so good but I thought it would be fished out because the access was so easy.

It was fantastic which I still can't believe.

    Bill,

Used to fish this stretch in the late 60’s near Indian Jim Campground. Fabulous dry fly fishing. One late October day caught and released 113 fish. Almost all rainbows and a few browns.

Amazing.....we spent a week at Tuolumne Meadows and were driving home down the Merced river outside the park.

I looked good but I thought it must be really fished out because of the easy location.

Had borrowed my grandparents truck and camper and pulled over at a pullout.

Took my fly rod and few flies and started rock hopping and fishing.

Had to quit because I had two nice trout in every pocket of my Levis.

    I was on my honeymoon.......1966.

Thanks for that laugh Bill, what an image that painted... I guess your wife knew what she was getting into at that point.
