    Default Pyramid Report Feb 16/17

Well guys as promised here's my report on my first trip to pyramid.

Long story short, had an incredible time and got lucky very lucky.

First day was with guide Steve Johnson out of Reno Fly Fishing. Top guy. I landed 8, 6 with Steve and 2 on my own later in the day. My best was 14lbs caught when was fishing myself albeit Steve set up my rod and rig.

Day 2 had 1/2 on my own and landed 3, couple were 6-7 lbs.

All fish were on indicator (leach and midge) apart from 1 stripping.

So clearly i got very lucky here and appreciate all the advice from folks here and Bob's great reports that pushed me over the edge to make the trip. And great advice from a few folks to hire a guide.

    Cheers
    Steve

    Way to go Steve.
I'm VERY stoked for you and you roped them pretty good too with the full moon !!!!

I was thinking of you Thursday and how you were doing.....while I was waiting for my dang Jeep to be repaired.

Excellent job for a first timer at the Mid'.

Glad you took the "advise" and did the guide thing.

Once again, congratulations on your success as a newb at "Pyramid".

So Steve, do you have Pyramid Fever now !!!!!!

I guess I'm gonna' spend the rest of the day sulking at home now ...................

Bob lol . As I said your reports really got me interested

Wed was better catching day for everyone according to what I saw and was told, it was over cast all day and decent wind. Thur was slower everywhere, warmer and much calmer. The guide I fished with on Wed had 2 with his client on Thur when I left both v early.

So I just hit it right.

Start new job next week so will be back to the grind but yes I defo having pyramid fever

Look forward to your reports and sure we will get out and fish together.

Is the season done end April typically / when water warms?

    Steve,

Nope, it's not done at the end of April.

Here's an excellent write-up done by the RFS and it's a good one explaining what goes on in the "late season" at the lake.

Keep in mind this was written some 5 years ago, but the information within is VERY accurate and describes what the Cutthroats do and what they will be up to.

So, yeah, there's still fish to be had before the lake closes.

Be prepared to see this too. "Anglers on ladders can stare into the water and spot hundreds of fish running up and down the drop off."
    It'll get your heart pumping................................

Good luck on your next trip there Steve.

Who knows, ............................ it may be even better than your last trip !!!!!
