Default Al Perryman and Gordon Langenbeck on the Rogue river now.

Both of these old buddies grew up in the Sacramento area but had the good sense to move up to the Rogue river some years ago.

They are both catching Steelhead right now......time to go.

October is the big month on the middle Rogue river for Steelhead.

Can you imagine driving from your home a few miles to the Rogue river for Steelhead?

Looks trouty, lots of spots below that lateral line. At first I was thinking cutty but didn’t see the orange up under the gills! At any rate, beautiful shot with a fine ACR for a back drop!

Mark: It could have been a resident rainbow. Hooked and lost two other fish of about 21” & 24”s. Both jumped and were steelhead chrome.

Mark: Now convinced this is a cutthroat after comparing it to pictures of other Rogue River cutthroat I have taken. Will have local biologist ID it.

It’s a beautiful fish anyhow Gordon! Keep at it, and I know you will.

That's definitely an upper Rogue coastal cutthroat. They have become increasingly more common, especially above Dodge Bridge.

Verified by local biologist as a cutthroat.

Spey expert Jeff Putnam is moving to the middle Rogue river with his lovely wife Angela.

Jeff mother will be near by as well.

They will be very neat Al Perryman and custom rod maker Gary Anderson.

Jeff just emailed me that the Rogue river was having a good run of Steelhead this Fall.
