I fished a few times this week. The wind blew pretty hard early in the week but by the end of the week it laid down. A calm summer day in the Delta is like a Christmas present from the wind gods. Open it, enjoy it and say "thank you wind gods, may I have another". I got a few nice bass and lost a few nice ones. I really, really do not like losing good sized bass. The mystery of a lost big bass that I never saw haunts me. You make a lot of casts looking for the big bite and when you get it you don't like it diving into the weeds and leaving you empty handed. There are good bass out there and if you cast the topwater bug on likely looking water you have a good chance to run into one. It might take a while but if you have confidence that it will happen and stick with it the big blow up will happen. Just be ready and don't botch the chance when it comes.
