It is time to start nailing down some Fall Steelhead trips.

September, October and November are the top months for Fall Steelheading.

During most of this time of the year many Spey fish with floating Scandi lines only.



Jason Hartwick and Jeno Bernero are both guiding on the amazing lower Klamath river with jet boats.


Morrison Lodge on the Rogue river in October is one of my favorite places to stay and fish.


Deschutes Angler Fly Shop in Maupin, OR guides the Deschutes river and the John Day river.


Speywater Guide Service in Oregon guides the lovely Grande Ronde river.

You’ve got that right Jeff! The plane is departing next week to BC! Steelhead counts are low but fingers crossed for a couple reel tunes.

Due to low flows, high air and water temps, fires etc. I probably will not get motivated until we get some good old-fashioned rain.

Ah, rain. Make that cold, wet rain and add a little wind for good fortune. Yes, it is a long travel day, but well worth it. I am ready for the North coastal rivers to open up and deliver a few good tugs.

Klamath is at 2000 in the lower river and the Trinity is burnt to a crisp. There went my fall season.
