Default Its Hex Hatch time again

The Hex Hatch is starting and I still have a handful of open dates. Take a look and let me know if you might be interested. As always thanks for looking.

I think mid-June till mid-July is the Hex time at Lake Almanor?

Lance and Lincoln Gray have a cabin on Lake Almanor now.

I believe the Hexagenia is the largest mayfly in America.......around a size 6?

The 4th of July is sometimes the peak of the emergence.

In the late afternoon some fish deep with emerging nymphs that are coming out of the silt bottoms.

Much of the top water action is right around sunset with everything trying to eat them.

Ducks, geese, bats, birds and all fish are feasting on the giant Hex mayflies.

The lower Fall river and Lake Almanor are the most famous places to go for this magic hatch.

Dozens of other places have the Hex like our own Lake Natomas right below Folsom Lake.

Back on some areas around the Great Lakes they have huge hatches and call them the "Michigan Caddis"....?

Yes the brothers have a cabin in Pratteville. Lance is at the cabin guiding and Lincoln is unfortunately stuck at the shop. The hatch has started early the last 2 years. Last year ended early with the high temps. I stay in Canyon Dam when I'm up at Almanor guiding. Life is rough for the Hexagenia, everything wants to eat them.
