Default Right now at 9:49 pm PST we have 300 people on the forum.

    Pretty cool...............signing up new members.

I stopped by Kiene's Fly Shop a few days ago to drop off some "stuff".

Gary said it was so busy that it felt like the 1980s when all the fly shops we doing well.

I think many know that COVID-19 is slowing going away with all the sunlight of summer.

We get Vitamin D from the sun, naturally, and it makes your immune system stronger...........get out there.

Thanks for keeping it alive Bill! You have brought a great group of people together to share info, support, direction and sarcasm all for the good of fly fishing and fishing in general!

We have had a lot of fun Larry.......

We are selling our home in Davis, CA and moving full time to our winter hide out in Sebastian, Florida.

Emagine if the Delta and the Valley rivers had Tarpon, Snook, Jacks, etc in them?

We will be in Florida mostly, visiting South Dakota and visiting Sacramento.

I will still be managing the Forum......

Can’t say as I blame you Bill. The Wife and I frequently discuss clearing out of Idaho completely and making our winter Texas home our year round roost. Much cheaper cost of living in South Texas and the cold winters would just be a trade off for the hot & humid summers. My days of wading cold and slippery rivers are over and The last time I skied was 9 years ago. Our quiet little town of Idaho Falls has turned into a busy destination for coastal state citizens looking for a more relaxed lifestyle. I think the last I heard Idaho was in the top 3 states for inflow of new residents.

In summary, we just seem to be happier in Texas so why not stay there all the time! Probably the same for you with the CA/FL swap. Oh yeah don’t forget BBQ, Mexican food and WHATABURGER!

    Yes Don,

A big part of our decision was financial.....having two house was very expensive.

Our cost of living will be half of what is was which is where you need to be when you are retired and older.

I pretty much have given up wading at 76 for all boat fishing, which I love.

Lastly, one of our daughters and son-in-law moved back to Florida, 40 miles north of us.

I am getting a new prop tunnel hull fishing skiff and upgrading all my tackle now too.

We have year round fishing unless we get a cold front down from the North.

These only last a few days and it is fin to put on your warm close.

We have a half dozen world class shallow weedy trophy bass fisheries for the winter months, very close by.

Spring, Summer and Fall we have the inshore brackish water fishing and then the near shore saltwater fisheries too.

I got rid of all my trout and steelhead gear which hurt some.....gave away a ton of stuff to friends like Andy.

Steve Potter and few other great guys are back in Florida waiting for me to come back so we can chase all the cool fish.

It is hard to beat the sight of Tarpon rolling in the quiet smooth surface of our little Sebastian river in the early AM.

That could be a fun retirement thing to do but I’m not the techie type, I’m old school, give me a piece of paper and a pencil. Maybe I could figure it, but man it would be hard live up to your stories and knowledge you have shared over the years. Thanks again for all you’ve done and maybe we can all figure something out when that time comes.
