Default Anybody interested in splitting a half day striper guided trip?

Would like to hire Patrick McKenzie for a half day on the Napa river, have only fished with guides a few times and much more feasible for me if I have someone to split the cost with. Have been fishing stripers from shore for a couple years with very sporadic success and think its worth the money to hire a guide to learn some stuff.

April/May/June is the big spawning run up the Sacramento river somewhere above or below Colusa.

This year in a low flow they might be spawning below Colusa?

Some go into the Feather river too.

This is where I would go.........

I am sure Tony has the best info here.

Like you said Bill, the water is really low in the Feather and Oroville Dam is the lowest it has been in thirty years. There have been some stripers taken down below Star Bend to the Bear River and Nicolas. But below that it is REALLY low all the way to Beer Can Beach. There's a deep hole there and a few places between there and Verona.

Over on the Sac there's a lot more water and as a result a lot more fish. Lots of small fish here too. Best reports I've heard are coming from just below Miller's Landing down to Freeport and Clarksburg. Those fish are already spilling milt all over the floors and decks.

Thanks Bill and Tony. Will have to try those rivers for stripers too someday. Nice thing about the napa is how close it is to home living in sonoma county.
