$100 for a line is absurd.
I look to buy older season, higher end lines. Rio, airflo etc.

Agree 100%! Really don’t understand how they justify it. Fly fishing has gotten very popular over the years so they decided to take advantage of it, rake you over the coals. Their cost on making rods to and what they sell them for is mind bending.

I realized on day one that I could never enjoy this sport that the fullest if I bought all the latest greatest at full retail. I buy used, on sale, top of the line from 3-5 years ago, etc. On the plus side, at least there’s a lot of great gear out there these days that isn’t top dollar
