March/April/May is probably the top time in FL and TX for bass.

FL is wide open now too.

Our CA Valley reservoirs are very good now too.

Like any long trip we had some weather issues. 4 warm days to start were very good; we had many bass over 3 or 4 lb blowing up on shad in the evening. Then we had a day on Palestine; we really needed a bigger boat than what we had. We went back to Athens where we got run off the lake after an hour by a thunderstorm, We moved from Palestine north to near Lake Fork on Friday in a heavy rain. Several fronts went through the second week, slowing fishing. We were never too discouraged as we saw many 4 to 7 lb fish, and the crappie were always available. We always caught a few fish; we also knew most fish in the slot lakes were in the 14-24 inch category. Slot limits are the way to go!! The last day we went to Tawakoni and caught wipers; Churchill broke his 16 lb leader on what he thinks was a big striper. all in all the good days were great; the bad weather days were a challenge but you knew big fish were around. around. With 15 or so great lakes within an hour drive, choosing where to fish was a fun challenge. And the BBQ was great.
