    Default American River 2/21 Unicorn

So I got lucky yesterday and hooked into a bright unicorn aka winter steelhead on my home waters of the American River. I was using a euro nymphing setup with OPST Lazar Line as my mainline and 8 lb test tippet. The fish took me halfway through my backing and I had to run down the river to eventually catch up to it...such a blast! After the quick photoshoot, the fish swam away strong and ready to fight another day! Until next time...fish on! 🎣🦈😌 Click image for larger version.

Looks like it has a pretty healthy chomp mark from a seal or shark on its back end there. Amazing how resilient even the hatchery brats are.

    Thanks Trout925.

PV_Premier. Yeah, that bite mark was gnarly. The fish was nice and healthy!
