Default Grizzly Hackle "Heron" Spey Rod 12' 6 weight

I just picked up this rod and trying to find any information on it. Only thing I found on it is a post on this forum about it maybe being from Kienes or Fishwest. The owner compared it to his Beulah Platinum. Thanks.

Found out that the rod is about 15-20 years old and was sold by Grizzly Hackle Fly Shop in Missoula, MT. The guy I talked to did not have anymore information on the rods/rods. I have used it a couple of times and works great for me at this time.

I have one too and it is a very nice 12'6" #6 line 4 piece Spey rod.

Mine is less than 10 years old.

You may be more accurate. The guy I talked to knew of the rods but was guesstimating. Great rod for $100 with shipping.

Yes DPT.....mine came with 2 tips.

Be sure you put an 8 weight reel on it and the right Spey line.

I am a very good old single hand caster but only an average two handed guy.

Spey expert Doug Duncan put a Airflo Rage floating head on it for me.

Kind of between a Scandi and a Skagit head.

I cast great for me now......

Andy at Kiene's is good at 'lining up' any fly rod.

Thanks. I put an old System Two 8/9 reel on it with a 420 gr Sakgit (if I remember correctly) line. Just got into two handed rods this last year. Thanks.

Two handed / Spey casting / fishing has been so good for the Sport of Fly fishing.

Fly fishing for Stripers is another huge benefit to our sport. It has sold a lot of outboard skiffs too.

The diversity of personal water craft (kayaks, SUPB, mini skiffs, inflatables) has been good too.

Indicators have had a big impact on fly fishing too.

My rod also came with two tips. One is thicker than the other. Is the thicker one more stiffer? Thanks.

Turbo tip for skagit, smaller diameter for scandi.

Thanks Mark. I will have to use the turbo tip with my Skagit next time!
