    Thanks Lance......

Having the right Skwala imitation is key.

In the winter back in the drought of the late 1970s when Joe Patterson and Wally Westlake discovered the big mayfly and stonefly emergences and the wild trout and steelhead in the lower Yuba river the flies were not that important.

Today with the increased pressure you need smaller sparse adult Skwala ties, not the big bushy ones.

I think that on warmer, sunny days in the afternoons the Skwala adults will be flying around.

On colder, foggy humid days look for the mayflies to be drifting longer on the slicks.

Veteran NorCal guides, Lance and Lincoln Gray, are experts on the lower Yuba, lower Feather and lower Sacramento rivers.

In the Sacramento area guide Andy Guibord at Kiene's spent a decade on the lower Yuba river before he discovered the Stripers.
