Default Closing Day on the Mokulemne River

Got to the day use area at dawn. In the first 4 hours I only got one 7 inch rainbow. On my way back to my car to grab lunch I tossed my nymph rig into an open run with no structure and got smacked! Landed a 22 inch Hatchery male steelhead. Very pretty coloring on him. Took a long lunch break and then fished til dusk. Got 1 10 incher right away, and then right when the sun went down I landed a 15 inch female steelhead/rainbow adipose intact. The big guy took a dark orange glo bug egg, and the smaller ones took an iris Caddis.

Sounds like you put in a full day and fished hard. Those are some nice fish. Do you fish there often?

4 times a month during the jan-March season and maybe once a month during the summer to oct season.
