    Default Martis

Got a total of 9 trout and 4 sunfish. Nothing huge. 2 of the bows were 16 inches. They were actually bigger than the browns and fought like them also. Water temps were in the mid 50’s.

Nice to meet you Bill. Hope your drive home was quicker going home. I would definitely strip flys next time you go there. Or have 2 rods. One for stripping and one indo.

    Until next time!

Well Smitty was the hot rod at the lake today.....................

Me, I landed one Brown ~13 inches, 2 sunfish, and missed 4 strikes with a 'cator and blood midges.

Not many fish hitting the surface either.

I went home via the drive around Tahoe.
There was a line of traffic a mile long going into Truckee so I said "screw you guy's....I'm outta here".

Good to meet up with you Smitty !!!

I'm a little tired tonight........may add more tomorrow.

    Dang Browns and Rainbows.............................

Wow Bob, nothing for the ride home? Screw the report !
And from a past thread “ yes I’m still herding cats” work has been getting in the way and w only 1 day off a week it’s hard to get motivated to do anything on that one day off Pray for rain to slow it down
See you November 30 or sometime after that at “ that other beach” I’ll bring a jug of it for the opener... aka (wino)

Just like Quinnphoto said, "9 is not lucky Smitty Some experience, knowledge and skill was involved".

Yesterdays outing had NOTHING to do with luck.
Smitty covered TONS of water and fished hard all day...........just like a PRO, AND..........fished the right flies and technique !!!!

Actually, I think Smitty deserved more than nine fish for his efforts.

Thanks again for schooling me about Martis Smitty.

    Jake..........
Nothing for the 44 mile ride home from Martis other than a bottle of water.
I had things to eat and snacks but there was tons of traffic and pedestrians, for a Wednesday, on the road around Tahoe.
I didn't "feel" like there was a very large margin for error with all the traffic and pedestrians about.
In other words..........I had a white knuckle, two handed death grip on the steering wheel, and left lots of room between me and the cars in front of me.
I'm pretty sure at one point I was following a car where the driver had one foot on the gas pedal and the other foot on the brake pedal..................... an ass jack driver.

It was good to meet you Bob. I’ll post the 2 flys that I used yesterday to catch the fish.
I like how you was working that switch rod with the indo set up. When I use to go to Pyramid 6-8 years ago, I used a 6-7wt switch rods
There. Much more easier than a single hand.

I’ll probably hit Martis one more time this season. End of October first week of November.

Over the past 50 years Martis Creek Reservoir has gone through a lot of changes.

    What size were those sunfish?

Bill the sunfish were 3-5 inches.

Also we looked over where the creek comes in, there was a beaver dam. The water was trickling around it. The weeds where chocking
up were the creek comes in. The main part of the lake wasn’t to bad.
