Default New Forum members almost every day now?

We still have lots of guests every day.

I am inviting anyone to register because it has advantages.

Free Classified is one big one.

    You can ask questions.

Or give us a fishing report.

It is amazing that it has lasted around 27 years now....?

Some day before I pass on to the big trout stream in the sky I need to get a protégé to take over the Forum?

It's worth stating (at least in my and I know in more than a few other's opinions as well) that unlike many other bulletin board / forums, this one is nearly always civil and except for fishing related issues (such as water access, protecting river flows, etc) is mostly nonpolitical. Whether that's a result of the moderators oversight or simply a natural characteristic of the members, it's one of the main reasons I like this forum. Trollers, argumentative, arrogant trouble-makers without anything useful to say just aren't tolerated. When someone asks a question or is looking for some help or advice, they nearly always get at least one response and the responses are sincerely intended to help, not someone simply advertising their own ego. The classifieds are also one of the most extensive and smoothly run. Thanks go to Bill and the moderators for the above. May it never change.

A fact.....over the 30 years that we had a fly fishing shop we never received a bad check !!!

Fly fishers and Golfers are pretty honest folks.

I did not mean that they didn't lie about their catch or scores.

Yeah, I do both and there's a lot of good natured chicanery goes on in both those hobbies.

Heh heh, and that 14 incher was most certainly really at least 18 inches caught from a super challenging run under the branches of a overhanging willow and behind a boulder.

Over the years we had some real professional BSers that frequented the shop.

I won't name any one because they are still alive and actually friends.

For us at the shop it was kind of an inside joke......and very entertaining.

These guy caught all these fish but nobody ever witnessed it.

After a while you could really spot these guys......

If you spent even just a summer working in a fly shop it would change you forever.

I think you can imagine how many people that Joe Shirshac, Andy Guibord and myself got started in fly fishing.

We showed thousands of folks out side the shop how to string up their outfit, and make some basic casts.

Some of them became pretty good, pretty fast, by just hanging around the shop and fishing a lot.

Funny, in couple of year some were even guiding and teaching fly casting and fly fishing.

Somehow, in their mind, they had passed all of us at the shop in fly fishing ability.

Some even offered to give my staff fly fishing lessons to get them up to speed.

Another "profile" is that guy who is really good at anything they do......these guys are just good. Seriously......

Every few years they are into something new: mountain biking, photography, music, Pro Bass, motorcycles, wood working?

They come into our shop and get into fly fishing, and in a about a year they are better than most of our customers. Seriously...

But in 3 to 5 years they are gone......after becoming better than 90% of the other fly fishers..........never to be seen again.

You hear they got into another challenging "sport"..........I am not making fun of these guys.....they are bad ass.

I have at least a million stories left.....................
