    Default Calif boater card

Has anyone been asked for a boaters card from law enforcement in California? Oregon now requires one for all ages but they have reciprocity with California so I got mine even though I don’t need it till 2025.

Here is the answer we needed from top Nor Cal fly fishing guide, Bryce Tedford:

Do you need a Boating license to drive a boat in California?

California boating law requires boaters to obtain and carry a California Boater Card (CBC) while operating a recreational motorized vessel on California waterways. This card is often called the ‘California boating license’. The CBC requirement will be phased in over 8 years.

My wife and I don't need it yet, but we both got ours a year or more ago. Didn't see any reason to put off the inevitable and we had a little fun studying together. Think you have all the answers to boating safety? Take the course.....
