    Default Fishing is Fun

Especially bass fishing. Trout take you to beautiful places, steelhead are awesome and saltwater fish pull hard but bass fishing is all about fun. Anyhow, here are a couple of pictures of a pretty fun bass I caught this morning. I saw a little bit of a swirl behind my fly but no take so I threw a couple sloppy casts back in and he crushed the second one. I did not expect him to grab after passing it up a couple of times but sometimes you get lucky. He ran hard for the sticks but I narrowly averted that disaster. Probably 5 pounds. Maybe a tad more. I think I need to buy a scale. I have a boga but it seems like I could get a fancy digital one.

    Bob-

That is the five pounder I was looking for but....a few weeks ago I hooked and lost one I thought was a 8 or more and I began obsessing on getting that fish back rather than getting the five pounder. I recently learned from observing my 87 year old mother that my life is not complete unless I am obsessing on something so I guess I will keep looking for the fish I lost. I know he is out there.

Smoke is not good here. I can see some blue looking straight up this morning so it might get better. I missed the worst of it while I was in Wyoming. The last six years have been bad. Every summer the valley has been full of smoke. I have been here 50 years and don’t remember this happening prior to 2015.

With all the restrictions we have now it is nice to have some good fishing close to home.

    Well,
Here's your special "ATTA BOY" John!
We have a special weakness for LM's too.
Grand pics. Is that fish blind in his right eye? Looks different in the pic. Might be the reason for the "refusal"?
