    Default Hardy Marquis Reels #5 & #6

Vintage Hardy Marquis reels for sale :

    Marquis #5 great shape : $150
Marquis #6 great shape : $160 (comes with original zippered case)

    Will post pictures later.

These reels have seen minimal wear, pawls and springs are strong (and loud). They both have minimal signs of use, the #6 has a couple of small nicks on the frame but nothing major at all. No corrosion that you typically find on these.

Prices are firm (can Paypal and ship but you pay fees and shipping costs). You can reach me at (Sacramento Area Code) 623-5552 or PM.

These are nice classic reels for trout.

I usually put them on rod one size small than the reel number.

The Marquis 6 would go on a 9' #5 rod for me.

The Marquis #5 would go on a #3 or 4 rod.

    If you don't need any backing then 6 on a 6 and 5 on a 5.

    Bill,

I have a Hardy Marquis #1 Salmon reel, it's stamped "saltwater" on the front, it also has a brass foot, I wonder how much it's worth, I am having it overhauled as we speak by Arch. I was thinking about selling it?

A few years too late. When Hardy started making all the classic salmon Perfects and Marquis salmons in the UK again the price dropped substantially. I believe the saltwater version had two handles to the spool. Completed eBay auctions give the going price.
Remember when a UK Hardy salmon reel was bringing $350+ in the spey world not too long ago.

A quick look at eBay shows 8 Marquis #1s have sold in the last few months. Looks like about $125-$150.

There are few things in life more pleasing than the sublime marriage of form and function that is found in a well crafted fly rod.
